One of my favorite parts of exhibiting at markets is meeting other like-minded entrepreneurs. Inevitably I meet some pretty inspiring people who are passionate about making the world a better place in any way they can, one step at a time.

I met Jill Erickson, founder of Spoils of Wear – an online and brick & mortar boutique, at last month’s North Local Market in downtown Minneapolis. Her sunny and playful nature is so contagious, her style is to-die-for and we share a love of dogs. We became fast friends.
Spoils of Wear is in a cute and bustling St. Paul neighborhood near the corner of Snelling & Selby. There you can purchase all of the adorable outfits, jewelry and accessories that Jill would sport every day at the market and in her mirror selfies on Instagram.
What I found out is there is a very important mission and there are stories that need to be told behind the fashion. The products found at Spoils of Wear focus on local production, organic textiles, and fair trade practices, among other socially and environmentally sustainable qualities.
They provide a broad range of opportunities for you to buy truly unique, lasting items at a fair price. In turn, supporting artisans, Benefit Corporations, and other wholesalers dedicated to a common goal: ethical practices in the fashion industry.
Jill has said, “I strive to buy my clothes more consciously, it’s a fight against ‘fast fashion’ – an industry that values profits over people and artisanship. My job is to ask the questions and serve up the spoils – the best of the brands that care about what their clothing is made of, where it’s being made, and who is making it.” This is a fight we can get behind!
When Jill asked if Dog Love Repeat would like to pop-up at her shop for their February 2-3 dog event, we couldn’t contain our excitement! We’ll be set up 10-6, Saturday and Sunday. I will be there in person with Trixie & Ziggy on Sunday and am so excited to show off our new twinning offerings – just in time for Valentine’s Day! (more on that to come.) Also custom doggy sketches by local artist Kira Fenn are available by appointment. $30 includes a 10-minute sketch session with Kira (one dog please), and you receive an 8″ x 12″ drawing to take home that day. That’s an amazing deal!
If you’re not able to attend the event, we encourage our Twin Cities friends to check out this sweet, cozy, dog-friendly shop on another day and say ‘hi’ to Jill and shop dog, Daisy the pug!
xoxo
